"Suppose you considered your neighborhood your temple- how would you treat your temple and what be your spiritual task there?" - Jack Kornfield
One of Yoga's original paths was that of self transcending action, Karma Yoga. In this spirit, Scott helped co-found the yoga based nonprofit, Karma Krew in 2006. What began as a one time yoga and service retreat to help revitalize post-katrina new orleans, has since evolved into a nationwide collective operating in over 50 cities across the country.
Karma Krew has two primary initiatives:
* Community Krews: With the intention to transform yoga studios into community hubs for sacred activism, in just a few short years this program has planted over 1000 trees, painted schools, fed the homeless, and supported numerous local and national charities.
* The Peace by Peace Project: Peace by Peace is a nationwide corps of yoga teachers working to pro-actively bring yoga into the places with the least amount of access and the greatest amount of need- shelters for abused children, victims of domestic violence, HIV clinics, prisons, nursing homes, and addiction recovery centers.
